  1. Thank you for your follow! I’ve added you to my follows as well. It’s always exciting to get follows from African countries because they are rare. You are the first Kenyan to give me a follow!

      1. When I got follows irregularly, and not too often, I took time to send thank you’s to all new followers. Then I had a huge spurt in follows, got behind on thank you’s, and am trying to get back in the habit of thank you’s again.

As you know (I am reasonably certain!), total follows are fun to see grow, but the best part of blogging is comments from those reading what you post: This is our payback for posting, and it helps shape what we post.

In the instance of people following from countries other than one’s own, those comments also help show that we are one people, no matter how different our lives. Many people in America or Europe probably are amazed that an African writes poetry yet African cultures produce wonderful art, music, people who, yes, write meaningful novels and poetry! (My all time favorite writer is the late Naguib Mahfouz, speaking of Africans.)

I look forward to reading more of your poetry, which is quite good!

  2. have you recently married? If so, congratulations! It’s a journey of partnership and love – as you say in your poem.
